Linda Fleming

Hi! I am Linda Fleming.
I grew up in upstate New York and moved to Plano, Texas, for a teaching job in 1983. I met my husband 6 months later, and I have been here ever since! From a young age, I have always been captivated by the intricate art of spinning and weaving.
My passion for this craft became evident during our family trips when my parents recognized, that if there was a living history museum in the vicinity, it was a must-stop. About 30 years ago I met a spinner who said she’d teach me to spin and weave. I love the feel of the fibers in my hands and in the pieces that I do. There’s a certain magic in setting up a loom, beginning to weave, and watching the vision transforms into a tangible reality right before my very eyes. With each pass of the shuttle, it brings me closer to the finished piece.
I began to focus on my weaving skills after I retired in 2017. It was then that I joined the Dallas Handweavers and Spinners Guild, a group of fellow enthusiasts that encouraged my passion and inspires me to learn more. Along the way I’ve learned to dye warps and discovered how much I love how each painted warp creates a unique piece. There are never two alike. So, as unique as each piece becomes, I hope you enjoy wearing my woven pieces as much as I enjoy weaving them!
